Company Profile & Background

Since 1970, California Advocates, Inc. has provided professional legislative advocacy services to a broad range of associations, specialty societies and corporate clients covering a wide variety of issues.  California Advocates, Inc. currently provides legislative advocacy and consulting services to nearly fifty clients.

In response to requests by certain association clients, an association management division, California Advocates Management Services (CAMS), was formed in 1991.  CAMS is a full service association management company and has grown to service numerous associations (primarily 501 (c) (6) professional organizations), including state associations, regional associations, a national association, and a regional trade show.  A team of association management specialists who possess a total of over forty-five combined years of diversified association experience manages CAMS and its current clients.  CAMS is able to provide full service management services or limited services in specialty areas as needed by the client. 

California Advocates, Inc. is located in downtown Sacramento across from the State Capitol, and serves as the parent company for CAMS.  Association management services are performed at the CAMS office located outside of downtown.  This office, convenient to the airport and just five minutes from downtown Sacramento, is fully equipped for providing association management services.  The CAMS office should be considered the association’s headquarters, and will be maintained in a fashion consistent with the dignity of the association.  Each management client association has a dedicated phone line that is answered personally and specifically for that association, as well as a dedicated voice mail box.

Additionally, there is small meeting space available to accommodate a maximum of 12 persons.  Of course, association clients are welcome to utilize the larger conference room at the downtown California Advocates office, and even larger facilities can be arranged downtown as necessary.  Additional storage space is maintained off-site for archival purposes.

 

Finally, CAMS believes in the professional development of its team members and, therefore, supports industry educational programs, publication subscriptions, and retains memberships in the California Society of Association Executives, the American Society of Association Executives, Meeting Professionals International and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.  Additionally, staff members are active in association related organizations, for example, a staff member is a member of the Cleaners and Launderers Association Executives and another is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
